They took me and my sister out of our traditional school and enrolled us in Alpha Omega Academy, an online school based in Rock Rapids. This transition was a bit daunting at first, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

One of the most significant benefits of online education is the flexibility it offers. I could do my lessons at my own pace, which was almost twice as fast as the pace at school. This flexibility meant that I only had to study in the afternoons, leaving my mornings and evenings free to practice my drawing. It was a perfect balance that allowed me to excel academically while also pursuing my passion for art.

My time at Alpha Omega Academy was a period of growth and discovery. I found that I was performing better academically, and the teachers were always helpful and supportive. In November 2021, we made another transition. This time, we moved to Acellus Academy in Kansas. The main reason for this change was the cost. Acellus Academy offered a special deal where, if we attended the lectures of Mr. Roger Billings, we would get a significant discount on the school fee.

My experience with Acellus Academy has been nothing short of amazing. The curriculum is engaging, the teachers are supportive, and the flexibility it offers is unparalleled. I’m set to graduate from Acellus in two years, almost two years ahead of my friends who are my age. This early graduation is a testament to the effectiveness of online education.

One of the challenges we faced was that, even though online schools like Acellus Academy are internationally accredited, universities here were still hesitant to accept students who graduate from these online schools. My sister solved this problem by taking the GED exam, which is accepted everywhere. Because she had a very high score, she was accepted into the best law school in the country.

One of the biggest advantages of online learning is the flexibility it offers. I could do my lessons at my own pace, which was almost twice as fast as the pace at my traditional school. But the benefits didn’t stop there. When I was attending traditional school, my day was incredibly long. I left home at 6:30 in the morning and my parents had to pick me up around 6 in the evening. By the time we had dinner, it felt like I had spent all day at school and hardly ever saw my parents. Very often, the school even required me to come in on Saturdays. I never had time to do anything for myself and I never had time to talk to my parents.

All of that changed with homeschooling. Now, I have more time to spend with my family and more time for myself. I’m so much happier now. The flexibility of online schooling has not only improved my education but also my quality of life.

Looking back, I can confidently say that transitioning to online education was one of the best decisions we made. I have more time for myself, more time to talk to my parents, and more time to pursue my passion for drawing. I am happier, more relaxed, and more productive.
