Memento Mori (2023)

Memento mori (Latin for ‘remember that you [have to] die’) is an artistic or symbolic trope acting as a reminder of the inevitability of death.

A human skull in the center as the main focus of the Memento Mori composition. The paintbrush is leaning against the skull, suggesting the connection between art and mortality, a theme often explored in memento mori art. The wine glass is placed to the side of the skull, filled with red wine to echo the color blood and of the tomato, which is placed on the right side of the skull. The pear is placed in the foreground, providing a contrast in shape and texture to the other objects.
